We have been using it since we arrived in Germany and it is definitely essential as it has worked perfectly for us so far.
This application is very useful to facilitate the experience of making an appointment in case we need to see a doctor (whatever the speciality).
Through this application, not only can we choose a doctor close to where we live (by entering the postcode), but we can also choose the language of the doctor (Spanish for example), the speciality and even make video calls if we have any queries.
In addition to that, you can see detailed information about each doctor, opening hours and even directions to the office.
Tip: at the bottom of the page, you can change the language to English (at the moment it is not available in Spanish)
The app is in German, but it is intuitive and very easy to use. You can also use the desktop version.
Run out of bread or milk for breakfast? Need to make an urgent purchase but don't have time to go to the supermarket? These are your apps.

Do you need to use a bike for a few hours or minutes without having to buy a bike?
With this app you can rent a bike for minutes or hours in more than 60 cities in Germany.
It's very easy to use, you make an account, find a bike near your location (there are usually bikes on every corner of the city) and rent it. How much you pay depends on how long you use it. Keep in mind that to return it, you have to leave it in one of the company's car parks (which you can also find every 2 blocks).
Here is an image of the prices in Berlin.
Highly recommended application for low cost travel in Europe.
You can get very cheap tickets to travel from one city to another, not only by bus, but also by train.
To give you an idea, you can get a ticket from Berlin to Hamburg for 7€ or from Berlin to Prague for 15€.
Tip: if you get your ticket early, you will get it cheaper.
You have probably heard of this company as it is known worldwide. It is like a taxi service but cheaper.
You create an account, enter your card details and you can start using it. It is reliable and safe, we have used it many times in the city. When you order the Uber, you put the address where you want to go and everything appears directly in the application, so you don't even need to talk to the driver if you don't want to.
You can see the scores of the drivers and choose the car and driver you like the most.
Please note that in some cities Uber is not allowed to be used, so another alternative would be to FreeNow
This application saved us from having to go to the doctor in person to get a medical certificate for missing work.
They make an account, with their details (they will need social security - ACA you can see how to join a social security scheme), choose the symptoms they have, enter the time they can call and a specialised doctor will call them (by video call) to help them.
After the call, the doctor determines the days and sends you the certificate so that you can present it at work.
In addition, they can buy medicines that are delivered to their home and paid for by the health insurance company.
The only problem is that it is in German so they will have to translate it.
Bonus App
And as a bonus we leave you 2 applications that will also be useful when it comes to saving money!
Do you like to see promotions from supermarkets and product shops? This is the app for you.
Instead of receiving thousands of magazines in your mailbox, you can access all the offers through this app and see where you are going to make your next purchase.
All you have to do is enter your postcode and it will show you all the stores, along with their online brochures, near where you live. That way, you will be able to save even more when you go to the supermarket.
You can see promotions from IKEA, Lidl, Netto and many more.
This application is ideal to save money, be more eco-friendly (avoiding food waste) and at the same time enjoy delicious meals.
The application itself, connects the customer directly with the restaurant or shop so that through the app they can make the payment of the purchase and pick it up directly at the restaurant or shop.
Normally, the meals offered are the leftovers of the day, so for example, a bakery offers the bread or sweets that were not sold or a restaurant offers a prepared meal instead of wasting and throwing it away.
The quality is always of a very good standard and you can also see reviews from people who have used it before.
Thank you very much for reading us!
I hope you found them useful and that they will make your stay in Germany easier.
If you know of any other applications that you use regularly, please leave them in the comments.
